Silver Anniversary. 25 years! Can you believe it? I still get chill bumps just thinking about the great turnout, and all the help we had to make this one an extreme success. As you read the articles in this issue, you will read many many thanks to many different people. Without all of the people involved, it just plain would not have happened.
Even with the overcast skies, and a bit of rain at the after-run party, it didn’t damper our spirits, as a lot of people stayed until the rain stopped. You folks that left early when the rain started, you missed a great time!
The morning of the run, I met with John Sullivan and others over at his house, where we loaded up 4 decorated trailers with brand new bicycles. From there, we had our own little parade from John’s house, to Jimbo and Yvonne’s, where they put on one helluva breakfast spread for us. You guys are beautiful, and thanks for the delicious grub! A few met up over there, and around 10am, we headed out for Kmart. Arriving there, we were greeted by a few already lined up, the expressions of awe when they saw the bicycles was a great feeling. Imagine, those are adults, think of how the kids felt when THEY saw them. The Sons of the Legion had their trailer of bicycles there also, making 5 trailers total, and bringing the amount of bicycles to our goal of 200! The parade itself went off flawlessly, and the crowds on the road to greet us, as usual, were excited and happy to see us. Once everyone got parked at the Legion, the party went off without a hitch, and a good time was had by all. Clean up after the party was smooth, and would not have been without the help of some fresh volunteers, something we normally haven’t had in the past. This years Toy Run went well. It was smooth, exciting, fun, and very successful, mainly due to all the help from YOU. See my article for more specific thank yous, and in the next few pages, enjoy the pictures. I know I will.
